Scripture Memory

Why Memorize Scripture?

The simplest reason for memorizing God's word is because we so easily forget the things that are often most important. The expression, "out of sight, out of mind," illustrates the problem. So in order to keep his word in our minds, we need to make an extra effort to put it there. In an age when people easily remember their favorite TV commercial, we should strive to remember helpful Bible verses. The most important reason for memorizing God's word is because the Word itself teaches us to do so.

How to Memorize

There are a variety of ways to memorize things, but the key is repetition. Modern technology has made this even easier and more accessible through any of electronic devises. One tool that we recommend is called, "Scripture Typer." There is a free and "pro" version for you to consider. Click here or on the icon to learn more about it.

What to Memorize

Any verse of the Bible can be a good one to put to memory. Paul said, "All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work." (2 Timothy 3:16-27)

Specific recommendations are available with each sermon series as the pastor suggests a key verse for us all to learn together.
