Indoor Food Pantry Open This Past Tuesday

This past Tuesday evening, our indoor pantry was once again open to the community. It provided food assistance to over 175 families in need. As temperatures continue to drop, this month’s pantry event featured an added touch of warmth, thanks to the efforts of our volunteers.

The food pantry distributed an array of ingredients to help families prepare nourishing meals, including proteins, vegetables, beans, pasta, and broth. Volunteers ensured that every family received a balanced selection of staples to create wholesome meals at home.

Our mission is to address food insecurity of our neighbors in the community and while we’re doing that, we’re showing the love of Jesus. This month, we’re especially grateful to partner with Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Inc, Sigma Sigma Sigma Alumni Chapter, who brought additional resources to make this event even more impactful.

This month in addition to the regular food distribution, members of the fraternity handed out hats, gloves, and scarves, along with diapers, tote bags, hygiene items and an assortment of shoes and clothing items.

“We wanted to do more than just collect items,” said one fraternity member.  “We wanted to be here, connecting with the community and making a difference firsthand.”

For many recipients, the additional items were a much-needed boost during these colder months. One of our regular attendees shared “It’s nice to know someone cares. These small things make a big difference.”

The indoor food pantry, which is open on the 4th Tuesday of the month, relies on volunteers to continue serving the community. We encourage anyone interested in contributing their time to reach out and get involved. We appreciate that our volunteers are always kind, friendly and welcoming.  With growing demand, volunteer support is crucial in ensuring no one is left wanting. Click here to sign up to help at our next indoor event on February 25. As the pantry wrapped up for the day, the impact was clear: full bags of groceries, warm winter gear, and the shared sense of community left a lasting impression on all who attended.
