New Staff Hire
By Pastor Mike Mercurio
February 7, 2025
For the past several years, we have felt the need to hire additional paid staff. Areas that needed more leadership were worship, children, youth and community outreach. Fortunately, we were blessed to connect with Maestro Jean Tezil to lead our praise team and bring both his talent and warm personality to the church. Maestro Tezil has been a great addition, but needs in the other areas continue to be felt.
Over the last three years, we have had talks with three different candidates, one from Canada, one from India and one from the United States. Each one of them seemed promising, but each one fell through before we could even have them visit. Then some new things began to happen. Read more.
Capital Area Food Bank awarded us a generous grant to be used toward the salary of a Community Outreach Director, someone who would specifically be our liaison with them and lead us in our food distributions, along with other support ministries for people in need. While we were waiting to learn about this grant, we contracted with Church Coach Ministries to help us raise additional funds that we would need for this and other program expenses. On our end, we will be providing housing and some other benefits to make the position a full time hire.
So, half of the job will focus on Community Outreach. The other half will involve Family Ministries and provide additional leadership to children, teens and parents.
In December of last year, new resumes were received and in January, a search committee was formed. This weekend, we will be interviewing several candidates and narrowing them down according to fit and calling. Then in a few weeks, we hope to bring someone here to meet all of you and seek God’s confirmation for joining our team.
What can you do? To begin with, please pray. Pray that God will continue to have his hand in the process and be glorified in all that we do. Also, stay alert for announcements. You don’t want to miss the Sunday that our potential new staff member will come for a visit. And finally, continue to support the work here. In addition to grants and external fundraising campaigns, the most important contribution is from the people of God that call First Alliance Church their home.
