Greetings from the Millers
by Joni Miller

Hello from South Carolina! We’ve been gone for several weeks now, and there hasn’t been a single day when we haven’t thought about you—often with full hearts and, at times, even a few tears.

Thank you so much for the wonderful going-away party you gave us. We were truly overwhelmed by the kindness and generosity shown to us. Your thoughtfulness meant more to us than words can express. Thank you as well for the gifts, money, and gift cards. Traveling and setting up a new home comes with many unexpected expenses, and we are deeply grateful for your generosity.

We’ve been enjoying living about 20 minutes from our son, Andy, daughter-in-law, Nicole, and granddaughter, Sloane. We see Nicole and Sloane every few days, and Sloane loves coming to Nana and Pop Pop’s house. We’ve “invested” in plenty of fun toys for her to play with here, but she still prefers hunting down wooden kitchen spoons and measuring cups instead.

We’ve also been having fun exploring the area and playing tourist. We toured a plantation, a city mansion, Fort Sumter and walked around the old part of the city. This area is full of Revolutionary and Civil war history. We've  eaten hushpuppies, biscuits, and shrimp and grits—so I think we’re officially Southerners already.

Last week we received about half an inch of snow, and everything completely shut down! We felt fortunate not to get the heavier snowfall that hit the northern part of the state. Other than that, it’s been warm and sunny here. It's been so nice to spend time outside.

We miss you all very much, and please know that you’re always welcome to stop by if you find yourselves this far south.
