First Alliance Church held its first meetings in 1933 when it was located on 808 I Street N.W. Washington. In those days we were called the Washington Gospel Tabernacle. In 1937, we purchased our first building on 5714 Georgia Avenue. It was a modest start, capable of seating 200 people.

Nineteen years later, in 1958, the church moved to 7901 16th Street. We stayed there for eighteen years, calling ourselves the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church of Washington.

The ministry moved out to the suburbs in 1976 to its current location and built the existing sanctuary. At that time, New Hampshire Avenue was only a two-lane road. In 1990, the church added a Family Life Center that includes a gymnasium, a full kitchen and additional classrooms.

In January of 2020, First Alliance Church and Harvest Time Community Church joined together as one. Pastor Mike Mercurio and Pastor Allen Grimes combined their leadership skills to form a team and to invite others to join the effort.
