from 6:30 pm until 8:00 pm

The Beacon is a time for both Middle Schoolers and High Schoolers (6th - 12th grades) to come have fun, learn about God, and simply be themselves. We call our ministry "The Beacon" becuase we believe that teens can hear God's call and follow him as fully devoted followers of Jesus. Jesus himself said, "I am the light of the world," and he calls his followers to reflect this light to others.

In his famous sermon on the mount, he said, “You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven." (Matthew 5:14-16). We want to be that light with our schools, families, and friends.

All students who want to join the Beacon or go on any outing with us must complete the following waiver form. Students without a form will be unable to attend events with us. Don't worry, it doesn't take long; it's just necessary. Click on "register" above to complete the form.

00100sPORTRAIT_00100_BURST20180109131733164_COVERMatt Mlinarcik was born and raised in Northeast Ohio, went to school in New York, interned in Pennsylvania, and transferred to Toccoa Falls College, Georgia, where he graduated. In 2015 Matt married the woman that won his heart, Kahri and they moved to New Jersey. In 2016, Matt and Kahri's endeavors took them to Silver Spring, Maryland, where they presently live. They are passionate about seeing the Kingdom of God expanded in every individual heart and community.

Matt likes to spend his free time hanging out with family, building friendships, pouring out his soul into music, scoping out a thoughtful book, or just getting out and doing something active.
God has grown a passion in Matt's heart for discipling young students. His goal is for every individual student to see who God made them to be, and for them to fulfill that potential. Trusting fully in Jesus Christ as His savior, he believes that God's plan for every individual is best for us, and we are most satisfied when we are worshipping Him.

Who? God has called us to be disciples making disciples. You could be the difference in a student's life. Where is God calling you to serve?

When? What works best for you? Our Middle School and High School groups meet every Sunday from 6:30pm until 8:00pm. We also have special events throughout the year including retreats and other weekend outings. Some of our leaders serve every week; some of them simply help out whenever they can. No need to feel locked in, we want you to serve where your gifts are most effective.

Why? At the Beacon we believe that our students are not the future, but the right now. We believe that God has called us to love them even when they are not very lovable.

How? We want to reach students through honest relationships. This will take time (usually a lot more than we think). We intentionally set aside space for fun team building games and small groups so we can make the most the time we have with them.

Still Interested? We were hoping you would say that. There is a 3 step process to joining the Beacon.

  • Complete the application
  • Complete a background check
  • Volunteer during a 2 week trial period
